Honorary General Consulate of Myanmar In Lebanon
The exequatur of Mr. Elie Debahy as Honorary Consul of the Union of Myanmar in Lebanon was issued on the 23rd of November 1997. His nomination as Honorary Consul was approved by H.E. Mr. Elias Hraoui, former President of the Republic of Lebanon and H.E. Fares Boueiz, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon.

On the 31st of October 2001, he has been promoted as Honorary Consul General of Myanmar, and his exequatur was approved by H.E. Mr. Emile Lahoud, President of the Republic of Lebanon and H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Hammoud, former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On 30 March 2011, The Union Government has been officially formed in accordance with the Constitution and Union Government Law. After the swearing in of the Union Government , the official name of the country was also changed to the Republic Of The Union Of Myanmar.

Myanmar's former Prime Minister Thein Sein has been sworn in as the country's new president. He replaces Senior General Than Shwe, , as the new head of state.

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, adopted a new state flag on 21 October 2010 to replace the former socialist flag in use since 1974.
